Shimano SAINT : Super Heavy Duty group set
Freeriding has become an independent MTB specialty. And Shimano has designed the Freeride componentry that suits this hardcore riding style.
Freeriding is enjoying more and more addicts in the MTB scene. In fact, it has become a complete new way of riding, with its own philosophy and standards. This specialization of riding styles has taken Shimano to create a group set exclusively designed for Super Heavy Duty usage. The points that have been developed are:
1. Front Chainring/ BB : a super strong crankset. This crankset will be joined to a super durable BB, taking advantage of the Hollowtech II technology, already available in our XTR groupset. Consumer can choose among three possibilities: 1, 2 or 3 chainrings.
2. Rear Derailleur : the rear derailleur is one of the points that suffers more in this kind of riding style. That’s why we have designed an innovative mounting system that fixes the rear derailleur directly to the hub axle, offering super durability to it. Another important feature that this kind of attachment allows to keep the RD alignment no matter the frame geometrics.
3. Hubs : front and rear hubs are subjected to high loads in this kind of riding. This complete set of oversized hubs are ready to survive to the hard usage that these parts are subjected to.
4. Disc brakes: a set of hydraulic disc brakes with mono body calipers that feature also our Center Lock system for 20mm through axles. They will be available in 160mm or 203 mm rotor sizes.
This is what Saint is offering to the riders: components that set the limits much further than before. Saint is delivered without excuses.
