UCI rules
After conferring with riders and judges for Sunday. There have been some revisions to remove some inconsistencies in the UCI rules that were drafted initially. The revisions will be underlined so you will know what changes have been made. #5 is the most important to take note of.
1. The bashguard or pedal making contact with the obstacles will be counted as a 1 point (for example, sidehop to pedal).
2. If bashguard or pedal (or both) scrape the object in any way (while you go up, down, over, etc on the obstacle), it will be allowed. But if you use it to gain your balance, then you will get 1 point.
3. If you slide on your bashguard OR pedal, for example, over a log or along a steep slope, then 1 point. Remember that bashguard AND pedal is 5 points!
4. Repeated while hopping on the bashguard and pedal give you 1 point each time you hop (if you are on your pedal only, and hop to stabilize on that pedal, 1 point additional for each hop). Once again, bashguard + pedal = 5 points.
5. If you put down your bashguard AND the pedal together at the same time to get up something, it will count as a 5. (#8 discusses heel or toe dabs).
6. If you use your pedal (or pedal with crank) 1st, then you go onto your bashguard, that will be 2 points. (Keep in mind that bashguard AND pedal is a 5)!
7. If you already have your foot down and are bringing your bike up, and your bike hits on the way up, you will still only have that 1 dab.
8. If you are on bashguard or pedal in addition to a foot dab, then you will have 5 points.
9. Using your heel or toe for balance while on your pedal or bashguard will be 5 points. For example, if you are on your pedal OR bashguard, or just pedal, and use your heel and/or toe then that is 5 points.
10. Double dabs are 5’s. After each dab, the rider is to have the foot back onto the pedal before another dab.
11. Holding the bike other than by the handlebars (5 points). Hands must touch only your bars (not the STEM, frame, wheels, pedals, spokes, etc).
12. Time limit of 2 minutes 30 seconds. 1 point extra every 15 seconds after that. For example, a time of 2 minutes 45 seconds will give the rider 1 extra point.
Some regular rules follow.
1. Leaning on your bar will be 5 points. If you hit it while riding through, it will be a ZERO.
2. Leaning on your shoulder or hip, or other body part above your hips will be 5 points.
3. Putting your hand out for balance on an object, 5 points (freestyle 1-handers are zero points).
4. Both feet down at the same time is a 5.
5. If a rider has a foot down, and places the other foot onto the other side of the bike is a 5.
6. Riding over or under, raising or tearing the section ribbon and arrows marking the boundaries of the section (5 points).
